Hi! My name is Wendy and I have been working on my family tree since 1974. Most of my lines have been
in the New World since the late 1600s or early 1700s. Now that so many records are online, I have actually been able to locate
information on family members I had never found before.
I know it's easy to feel lost when you
first get started. What to do first, who to ask questions of, what to believe (is our family really full of horse thieves?)
I know about that last one because that's what my great-uncle had told me when I began searching for information. Instead
of horse thieves, I found ministers!! Quite a difference, right? Who knew??!!
What I am offering
to you is help in getting your first few generations underway. Now that the 1940 Census has been released, you would have
to provide me information that leads back to prior to 1940. It's not hard if you think about when your grandparents were born.
I would need as much as you can find out about your family - years of birth (can be approximate), where they've lived, where
they were born, any nicknames they've used, even what you've heard that hasn't been proven.
I
will initially charge $25 to find as much as I can on your first four generations up to a maximum of five hours. Thereafter,
charges will be TBD. This is for work on family in the United States.
Because of the nature of things,
I can offer no guarantees other than I will do my best to find as much as possible and will provide as much documentation
as I can when original document images are available (including images of the available original documents). I will tell you
who is in possession of these images or who holds the transcribed documents if images are not available.
In
order for me to do this, you must have an email address that can receive attached files. You will also need to have Adobe
Acrobat or Acrobat reader on your computer (or on the computer you are using) to be able to read the information I send to
you.
If I learn that your family are recent immigrants (within the past 150 or so years), I will
find out what I can about them, but overseas research will cost more if you decide you want me to pursue it. The price will
be $38 for up to five hours research ($7.60/hr). That is because the International databases charge more for access than Domestic
databases.
My knowledge comes from personal experience. My ability to sort details is also
based on personal research and experience. I do rely on the research of others when necessary, but only when they offer documentation.
So many errors are based on hearsay information and mere copying that I try to see where they obtained their data. If, as
one person recently told me, all they can do is say "I found it on the Internet", I can't accept their research as valid.
It may be, but they haven't proved it. Just because someone else says it doesn't make it so. But, if they give detailed information
of where they found the information, even better if they offer document images, then I am more comfortable letting their fingers
to the walking. I DO verify what they say and will provide that verification.
Again, recently,
I found one person who attached document images to their online family tree as "proof" of the data they'd accepted for their
ancestor. The problem was that the documents they used weren't even FOR their ancestor!! So, trust me when I say I WILL
LOOK to be sure that what I'm finding has been proven. I will also tell you if I have any doubts about anything I offer.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. If you would like me to begin, then please
click on the PayPal button. I will then contact you for the information and just how much information you're looking for (just
a straight ancestral line or siblings and their children, too.)
